After the 3rd stage of the Tour of the Basque country in Spain, Launceston boys Richie Porte and Wesley Sulzberger are doing very well.
Sulzberger is 73rd on the overall general classification (GC) and Portey is 111th. In front of them are the giants of the sport like Allessandro Valverde, Jens Voight, Andy Schleck, samuel sanchez, Oscar Friere and Andreas Kloden. Behind them are other greats like Michael Rogers and Simon Gerrans.
So the boys are right in the mix in what is a very tough mountainous race.
This is how Australia's Simon Gerrans (on twitter) described last nights stage ......."typically tough day here on Pais Vasco. 187km stage with not one flat km, rain, wind and then sunshine".
Three stages remain including the final satge time trial which should suit Richie Porte and see him move further up the standings.
